  • 15-MIN. HIIT

    You’re in you're out. Short on time? This is the workout for you. Backed by research that shows short bouts of intense exercise can be as effective as longer more moderate workouts, this class makes it easy to fit exercise in your schedule. This class will have a short warm up and cool down, and in between we will be working intensely with fun, full body moves. Modifications will be given so that you can work at the right pace for you. Plan to leave feeling energized. Pairs great with Cardio Strength right after! Instruction will take place through Zoom. Registrants will receive an email from Farmington Continuing Education containing a link and instructor information before the start of the course.     2023 Special Education Extended School Year (ESY) Program - This program is only for those students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) who have been recommended to receive special education and/or related services as described in their IEPs. NOTE: If you also are planning to enroll your child in the EXCL program before or after the ESY Program, you also will need to register your child for EXCL separately.
  • Adult Tap for Beginners

    Adult Tap offers the opportunity to exercise in a unique and fun way. Start with a gentle stretch, learn or review a tap step, work on techniques, and finish with a short tap combination. If you are completely new to tap dance, please sign up for our Introduction to Tap courses. Wear comfortable clothing and do not forget your tap shoes! Don't have tap shoes but want to experience the course? We may have a gently used pair that you can borrow or purchase.
  • All Levels Yoga

    This course will introduce you to Yoga Asanas. In Sanskrit, the word asana translates as “seat,” specifically for meditation and is another name for the poses or postures of yoga. Today asana is synonymous with yoga, but it has only one component. Yoga Asanas will include still, moving, reclining, standing, inverted, twisting, and balancing poses. Students can also expect to learn anatomical alignment and meditation techniques throughout the course.
  • Band Academy (Entering Gr. 6-9)

    Students will continue to grow musically and develop life-long musicianship skills through collaborative and independent study with highly skilled and energetic instructors and mentors in warmups, performance, improvisation, rhythm work and sectional rehearsals. This camp is not designed for beginners, students must have at least one school-year of playing experience in order to register. Please bring your instrument, music books, a snack and a water bottle, daily. Concert will be held at West Woods Upper Elementary School on Friday, June 28th at 11am in the gymnasium. NOTES: Registration deadline: June 2, 2024 Cancellation Policy: Cancellations with a refund will be allowed up to June 10 with a $35 fee. There are NO cancellations / refunds after June 10! EXTENDED DAY OPTION: The EXCL Summer Camp is available for children who need before and after childcare that are registered for Band Camp.   • Basic Ballet & Stretch

    Enjoy a gentle full-body stretch at the beginning and end of each class. Beginner ballet exercises will be learned and reviewed during this class in a no-pressure environment. Come in comfortable clothing. Ballet shoes are recommended, but socks are suitable!

    The purpose of this credit recovery course is to provide additional time and assistance for those students who did not achieve the course standards in Biology. Successful completion of this course allows a student to earn one credit in Biology. Enrollment is open to FHS students who achieved at least a 50% average in Biology.   • BollyX: Dance Fitness

    BollyX is a Bollywood-inspired dance-fitness program that combines dynamic choreography with the hottest music from around the world. 45-minute cardio workout cycles between higher and lower-intensity dance sequences will get you moving, sweating, and smiling. At the very core of a BollyX workout is the inspiration it draws from the music and dance of Bollywood, the film industry of India. BollyX embodies the infectious energy, expression, and movement of Bollywood and aims to expand the reach of fitness to more people worldwide. The fitness curriculum has been created by world-class choreographers and certified fitness professionals to ensure a safe and effective total body dance workout for all. No prior dance experience is needed. Bring a water bottle and wear comfortable clothing.

    A friendly exercise program that combines low-impact aerobics with stretching, strength training, and routines to improve flexibility, muscular strength, balance, and cardiovascular fitness. Previous punch cards purchased can be used. Three Options for Purchase... Course Fee - Select this if you want access to all the dates for this given season, no punch card needed. Senior Fee - Reduced rate for seniors who would like access to all the dates for this season, no punch card needed. Punch Card - Purchasing this option will get you a punch card that will allow you access to 20 sessions of Cardio Fitness across multiple seasons. If you currently have a punch card with punches left, choose this option and enter in the promo code to remove the charge at checkout.     The purpose of this course is to provide an intensive study of government, law, and citizenship. Successful completion fulfills the social studies graduation requirement in Civics. Enrollment is on a space-available basis. The class will be taught remotely. Login instructions will be emailed to registrants before the start of class. This course is open to FARMINGTON High School students entering grades 11-12 ONLY.
  • Core Strength

    This functionally fun class provides a complete workout that will help tone and reshape your body. You will use light weights, bands, and your body weight to improve strength, flexibility, balance, and stamina to sculpt and tone. Have a yoga mat, water, and lightweights available. Instruction will take place through Zoom. Registrants will receive an email from Farmington Continuing Education containing a link and instructor information before the start of the course. All registrants MUST complete a Waiver & Questions BEFORE the start of the course. A link to the Waiver & Questions will be included in the "notes" of the registration confirmation. Participation in the course will not be allowed unless a waiver is on file.
  • English Credit Recovery

    This is a credit recovery course designed for FHS students who earned a 50% or higher final average in the following English courses taught at FHS: English 100H, English 200H, American Literature H, American Studies, and all of the senior English class offerings. In this course, students will be provided additional time to practice essential learning skills in order to meet the required English graduation standards. Students will receive targeted instruction and support in a personalized setting. Successful completion of the course will be determined based on the student’s demonstration of mastery of the requisite standards and will result in the student earning credit for the course.   • FIRST® LEGO® League Summer Program (Gr. 1-4)

    Lights, camera, STEAM! Science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) inspire big ideas, bold action – and creativity. Our skills make it possible to create art and experiences that bring us together, entertain us, and move us. During this session, FIRST® IN SHOW presented by Qualcomm, we will celebrate the roles our STEM skills play in the arts, design, and building of a world of endless possibilities. The future is yours to create. Under the instruction of the Farmington Robotics Enforcers, students will work together to solve fun engineering challenges and build models using LEGO® bricks, gaining confidence, and teambuilding skills along the way. 1 PM - 4 PM Students in grades 1-4 Students focus on the fundamentals of engineering as they explore real-world problems, learn to design, and code, and create unique solutions made with LEGO bricks and powered by LEGO® Education WeDo 2.0. Students should bring their school/personal Chromebook or laptop to class each day, if possible, along with a healthy snack and a water bottle!   • FOOD TOUR with Prudence Sloane - A DONG'S SUPERMARKET & VIETNAMESE Luncheon

    It's over 30,000 square feet of Chinatown in West Hartford, complete with hanging ducks, live fish, exotic produce and all the ingredients you need to cook Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai and Japanese. Prudence Sloane will guide you through this most extraordinary supermarket and give you expert advice on how to cook and use many of the products offered. All secrets will be revealed. Afterwards we feast on Vietnamese specialties at Pho Boston next door. Meet at A Dong Supermarket, 160 Shield St, West Hartford. Bring a sweater - the supermarket can get cold!   • Farmington Summer Strings Academy (Entering Gr. 3 -10)

    The Farmington Public Schools Orchestra Teachers and members of the Hartford Symphony invite you to join them for 3 weeks of intensive music-making and fun! Daily classes include mini-lessons on your stringed instrument, note-reading and group class, orchestra, movement, and visual arts. Advanced players may also have chamber music opportunities. The Farmington Strings Academy is designed for students with at least one year of instruction on the violin, viola, cello, or string bass - no beginners, please! Students should bring their instruments, music books, a healthy snack, and a water bottle.     The purpose of this course is to provide a space for students to work through the Next Generation Personal Finance standards which include banking, credit, budgeting, investment, taxes and consumer skills. Successful completion fulfills the CT graduation requirement for a 0.5 credit in Financial Literacy. Enrollment is on a space-available basis.The class will be taught remotely.   • Food Explorers Summer Program (Gr. 3-6)

    Join Food Explorers for a week of fun with food! A) From Scratch 9 AM - 12 PM For students entering grades 3-6 Join Food Explorers for a week of from scratch cooking! Each day you’ll be making two recipes completely from scratch. We’re talking about homemade tortillas, homemade pasta, homemade naan bread and more. Learn all about complex cooking techniques and skills in this hands-on camp. All recipes are nut free but do contain eggs, dairy and gluten. Ingredient substitutions are not possible. Students should bring a water bottle B) Summer Baking Challenge 1 PM - 4 PM For students entering grades 3-6 Explore advanced baking techniques like homemade dough, homemade pie crust and intricately decorated shortbread cookies. With recipes like mini apple lattice pies, strawberry twists, pear cinnamon rolls and pizza from scratch, these recipes full of skill building and exploration. All recipes are nut free but do contain eggs, dairy and gluten. Ingredient substitutions are not possible. Students should bring a water bottle C) Full-Day Option 9 AM - 4 PM Students in grades 3-6 This option is a combination of both the AM and PM options listed above Be sure to have your child bring a water-bottle. A lunch is not necessary as students will be eating what they make. If you would like to supplement the food provided, please have your child bring a lunch. Our easy-to-access remote learning system will take you behind the scenes at Voice Coaches' main studios, where we regularly produce voice-over content for clients including Netflix, Discovery, HGTV, Disney, Lifetime, Nickelodeon, and many more. From audiobooks, training material, animation, and commercials to socially relevant content, television, and much more: today’s voice-over field has become a great way to leverage your individual voice qualities and communication skill in a whole new way. This course also includes an opportunity to receive a brief one-on-one voice range and quality assessment with the instructor. Instruction will take place through Zoom.     Hudson Yards is New York’s newest neighborhood and home to 100 diverse shops and restaurants, significant public art, and plazas. Located between 10th and 12th Avenues from West 30th to West 34th Street, Hudson Yards is the newest developed neighborhood in Manhattan’s West Side. THE EDGE is the highest sky deck in the Western Hemisphere located at 30 Hudson Yards, with a one-of-a-kind design, it’s suspended in mid-air, giving you the feeling of floating in the sky with 360-degree views you can’t get anywhere else. Look 100 stories down from the thrilling glass floor, look out over the city on angled glass walls. Time to explore the upscale shopping & Spanish food market in Hudson Yards. Upon arrival in NYC enjoy a guided walking tour of the High Line, a park created from a former raised railway. The High Line runs up the west side of Manhattan with an entrance near Chelsea Market. Because it is two-stories above street level it offers a unique view of the city. Following our tour of the High Line we’ll have a chance to grab a bite to eat at Chelsea Market.
